Outstanding Mexican food in Southwest Detroit with made-at-the-table guacamole (the best I've had in Michigan). Interesting options too like lobster quesadillas, and reasonably priced. Worth a try!

Outstanding, authentic Polish food in a great little restaurant/bar in the basement of an old building in Hamtramck. Food is cheap with *huge* portions: the fried lake perch and goulash are great.

Solid Asian restaurant with outstanding Korean offerings and good Japanese noodle offerings, but the sushi is somewhat lacking. Very reasonably priced, casual, and open until 11:30pm every night.

Probably the best sandwiches in Detroit, they make everything in house and now have a great bar as well. This place is a new Detroit institution and for a good reason. Try the "Madill" sandwich.

Technically in "Metro Detroit" and not Detroit proper, this a small Japanese grocery store with a very small cafe that has the best sushi in the region. Worth a trip if you love sushi :)

Probably the best Salvadorean food in Detroit, the pupusas are amazing and cheap, and the horchata is great too. Highly recommended!!

Good, cheap, fast Thai food in Midtown. Good if you need a quick meal but want to eat something pretty tasty. The pad thai and drunken noodle are both worthwhile.

The de-facto BBQ place in Detroit, Slow's is in the heart of Corktown and has great brisket and pulled pork, with some great beers and sandwiches as well. Worth a trip though wait times can be long.

The largest urban park in the United States, Belle Isle is massive with great old architecture, fountains, a nautical museums and a marble lighthouse! Worth checking out, and nice for a long walk.
