Once the Wilson Creek Wild and Scenic River was designated, Caldwell County began work on the creation of a visitor/education center to promote the outstanding values of Wilson Creek. Led by the efforts of the Caldwell County commissioners, the county purchased 6.4 acres along Wilson Creek using grants from the N.C. Natural Heritage Trust and the N.C. Clean Water Management Trust in January 2001. Later that year, funds for the construction of the visitor center were received from the N.C. Department of Transportation Enhancement Funds. Construction of the visitor center began in May 2002. On October 14, 2002, the Wilson Creek Visitor Center officially opened its doors to the public. The Wilson Creek Visitor Center gives information on the Wilson Creek area and has a photograph and artifact collection that tells the history of the area. Officially designated as a Wild and Scenic River, The Wilson Creek Visitor Center is your gateway to adventure on Wilson Creek and the surrounding area. Perhaps the best known waterfall in the area is Looking Glass Falls. It's right next to the road along US276 north, kid friendly, and wheelchair accessible to the upper view. If you are in the area and only have time for 1 quickie waterfall, this would be the one to go to. It's about 60' high and swimming is allowed in the pool at the base. I'm not sure how deep it is, but I've seen kids swimming and wading. The water is always cold and it's swim at your own risk. In the summer months, this waterfall is always very crowded, so go early. Remember that wet rocks area very slippery! Directions: From the intersection of NC 280 / US64 / US276 near Brevard, drive north on US276 for 5.6 miles and pull off in the paved lane on the right. If you are coming from the Blue Ridge Parkway, get off on the US276 exit and drive south for 9.2 miles. Looking Glass Falls will be on your left. You will have passed Sliding Rock and the parking for Moore Cove Falls

Located in the Pisgah National Forest just north of Brevard, 7.6 miles from the junction of US Highways 64 and 276, is Sliding Rock, one place where you’re invited to “take the plunge” down a 60-foot slippery cascade into the 50-60 degree, 7-foot deep pool. There are 2 observation platforms, and lifeguards on duty during the season. This is a heavily used recreation area which often fills to capacity. Persons parking on the side of the road, outside of the designated parking area, will be ticketed. It is suggested, too, that you wear old shorts and old sneakers if you choose to take the plunge. Entry is $4.00 per person for sliders and observers.

We made wine privately in our home for several years. In 2011 the first grape vines were planted and now we currently have 150 beautiful healthy vines growing. In 2012 we started building a new barn and winery so that we could begin to offer the public our passion, our wine. Our tasting room opened June 14, 2014, and has been a huge success! We just added on a new addition to the winery for more seating and to have special events. The outdoor seating area was also expanded to both porch seating and patio seating. Along the way we have made some interesting wines and have worked hard to develop classic and diversely flavored wines. We have quickly become well known for our peach wine "Bodacious" which is a true southern style wine. Visit us and see what we mean by "Doing wine Southern Style".
