Public Bus & Renting a vehicle
The best way to see the whole island would be renting a viechle.
Public Busses take you to certain beaches but not close to all and they tend to not run as frequently towards the south east of the island, and the two bus stations are in Mykonos town.
The good thing about staying in the Platy Gialos neighborhood is that you can walk to many beaches, or take the water taxis and the town of Mykonos is only 15 minutes via public bus!
Driving around can be a joy but one must consider the roads are very narrow in some areas.
