There are a few Mexican food places to choose from in Mariposa, but Castillo's is by far the best. Now serving margaritas with your meal if you need a refreshing drink. Holly the owner is the sweetest gal ever and all the servers are great.

Hwy 140 that runs through Mariposa is actually called Charles Street, hence the name ;) When I was growing up, it was called The Wagon Wheel. That is why you will see one hangin in the window.

Bring your boat and you can launch right by the restaurant. If you just want to take a day trip, there are lots of places to 'beach' and hang out.

Pioneer Market is the only grocery store in Mariposa. They have everything you would need to make your meal at home. Grab a deli sandwich here before heading out to Yosemite or any hiking that may be on the schedule for the day.

Sightseeing
This is the best little hike. We always take a packed lunch and sit by the water. When you enter the trail head from Hwy 41, you can go upstream to the left or downstream to the right. We prefer going right, you hike down and find the best waterfall.

All kinds of gems here. A small but mighty museum. You can even see an old mind shaft that was used in the mid 1800's. When we were growing up here, they used to let you walk through it...what a treat!

There is a lot of history here. Schools come from near and far on fieldtrips here. History of the gold rush days and many different tools, clothes and items from this era. You can go outside and see many of the buildings that were erected then too. Just a tid bit, the Mariposa Library used to share this space with the museum but now the entire building is for them.

This ol' building not only has the best coffee beans around but also the best experience. If you happen to be there while Jerry is roasting, he will invite you in to check it out. It's quite interesting. This is a place to purchase roasted coffee, not a coffee shop. But don't be discouraged, you'll be able to find that perfect flavor of coffee to take back home with you.
