Great area to start your hikes to the Flatirons and Green mountain. Nice picnic areas and awesome Chataqua dinning hall/full service restaraunt and wedding venues. During the summer months enjoy the auditorium for great music line ups from all over the world; these shows usually sell out well in advance, so plan accordinly.

LEAVE the crowds behind and enjoy my favorite hiking trails the Boulder Parks system has to offer!!! NCAR- The National Center for Atmospheric Research- hides some of the greatest Boulder vistas and a very peaceful and flat nature walk. Parking is plentiful and the views are spectacular. Check out Skunk canyon and Mallory cave or enjoy a longer hike to Eldorado Canyon via the extensive Mesa Trail and don't forget the loop option up to Devils Thumb, while scrambling up the South side of Bear Peak! There's a reason I have Bear Peak in my listing photos... You will absolutely LOVE it up there!

NCAR- The National Center for Atmospheric Research- hides some of the greatest Boulder vistas and a very peaceful and flat nature walk. Parking is plentiful and the views are spectacular. Check out Skunk canyon and Mallory cave or enjoy a longer hike to Eldorado Canyon via the extensive Mesa Trail and don't forget the loop option up to Devils Thumb, while scrambling up the South side of Bear Peak! watch out for the bikers on the narrow winding roads as you approach Gods Country! You may have to pay a fee to enter, but they recently expanded the parking lot! I recommend Lake Isabel, gradual inclines with majestic views of the glaciers and valleys below. If you have a off road vehicle; stay to the left of the fee station and head up to Left Hand reservoir for a locals hidden gem. Camping is sometimes hard to come by, but if your lucky enough you can camp on the edge of the tree line @ 11,500-12,000' elevation and have a secluded camp between the dwarfed junipers and douglas firs. If you want to take it a step (literally) further. You can Backpack in a few miles around the lake.

I recommend Lake Isabel, gradual inclines with majestic views of the glaciers and valleys below. If you have a off road vehicle; stay to the left of the fee station and head up to Left Hand reservoir for a locals hidden gem. Another great hike or bike destination with terrific views of the continetal divide and ice cold river that becomes the South Boulder creek down stream. Rummor has it that you can jump do some cliff diving, but I've never found my way over to that side of the lake... Picnics are available @ several locations and I highly recommend bug spray at certain times of the year.
