It's the gateway to DownEast, so there are grocery stores, chain restaurants and big box stores, too. 5-10 minutes from the house, it's easy to pop in to Ellsworth to pick something up. Don't forget to stop at L.L. Bean, Marden's or Reny's - it wouldn't be a vacation in Maine if you didn't!

Our reno has taken A LOT of take out from China Hill. Family-run, always busy, usually greasy = it's a great spot for some guilty-pleasure take out and potent drinks.

Great restaurant in a very cool, historic building. Mike used to work in this place as a teenager! (It was a different restaurant then.) We had a great birthday dinner here this year. Warm, inviting, delicious.

My mom's favorite spot for breakfast in the area - she always gets crepes. They also do lunch. Very friendly service and great location on the water. Sit outside and enjoy the view.
