Brave the water or just enjoy the walk along the promenade. It's a 2 mile walk (or short bus ride) to the start of Portobello beach, and about 1 mile along the beach front.
If you're feeling energetic you can then walk through Figgate Park and Duddingston Village towards Arthur's Seat, stopping at the 600 year old Sheeps Heid Inn for a break on the way.
