A castle with lots of Border history. Kinmont Willie, a famed Border Riever, was imprisoned here, and the Laird of Bucchleuch led a daring raid to release him. Also the home of the Border Regiment.

Neighbourhoods

A truly remote area. The least populated area in the least populated county in England. The land is mainly put to cows and sheep, although there are quite a lot of horse owners here too. The wildlife is excellent. Deer, red squirrels ( although the grey are about) hares, stoats, otters, weasels, snipe, curlew, oyster catchers, peewits, buzzards and the odd kestrel. The local family names have been here since the 15/16 Century and the reiving times, but now we have a peaceful place and a strong sense of community.
