If you are a history buff this tiny museum has a lot to offer. Scottsville has a rich history because of its visits during the Civil War, the James River and the transportation it offered, and then the building of the canal. You can actually see one of the locks used for the canal on our property. One of the stables for the horses to rest and switch out was close by as well. Guests have even found horse shoes left behind from that time period.

Scottsville has a rich history because of its visits during the Civil War, the James River and the transportation it offered, and then the building of the canal. This is a beautiful hike and worth the trip. Bring your bathing suit and take the plunge!
