Wintergreen is a hiker’s paradise, with over 30 miles of hiking trails ranging from short and easy to long and strenuous. You can get a map at the Nature Foundation, which is a short walk away.
In addition, the Appalachian Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Shenandoah National Park are just a short drive away.
Crabtree Falls is a beautiful, but rather strenuous hike less than an hour away.
