The caverns were discovered just before the turn of the 20th century and first opened to the public in 1977. Open seasonally, the Natural Bridge Caverns tours descend more than 34 stories deep within the Earth to reveal one of the greatest natural underground displays on the East Coast.

The VHCF also hosts many non-equine events such as dog shows, BMX, agriculture programs, and the Rockbridge Regional Fair & Farm Show.
