St. Stephen's Cathedral Dating back to 1147, St. Stephen's Cathedral is one of Vienna's most impressive landmarks. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Vienna and the largest church in the country. The cathedral boasts a 445 foot-high tower, an elaborately patterned and coloured roof and a very extravagant interior complete with 18 altars and several chapels. The cathedral is also home to many fine works of art, some dating back as long ago as the fifteenth century.

What makes the Hofburg Palace particularly interesting is its fascinating mix of architecture dating back from various times throughout history. Here you will see architectural styles such as art nouveau, gothic, medieval and late baroque. The palace is home to the national library, imperial treasury and the ethnographical museum.

The palace is also home to the Schönbrunn Zoo, one of the oldest in the world.

The museum was opened in 1891 by the Austro-Hungarian Emperor, Franz Joseph I. The diverse collections of the museum are organized in various different sections. Here you will find relics from Ancient Egypt and the Near East, Roman and Greek antiquities, fine examples of sculptures and decorative arts, a gallery of paintings and a library.
