Locally owned and operated by long term residents (a chef and barmaid match in heaven). New owners have added to the 2 traditional meals of fried chicken or steak - there are now vegetarian options. Call in advance for reservations of parties of 10+.

Fresh, spicy, authentic Mexican / Tex-Mex food. Fun atmosphere. Refreshing, intoxicating margaritas and local beers. Accommodates large groups. As with most places, arrive early for the best tables and service.

This location has had many a restaurant pass through it, but the Breadery is our favorite and we sure hope they stay for the long term. Their breads and pastas are made fresh daily. The source ingredients locally, and pair things you never would have thought to. All and all, great food and atmosphere!

Fabulous, dark and mysterious little bar that makes damn good cocktails. They have a menu to select from, or they will custom mix for you. Arriving early ensures you a seat. Arriving later means standing room only during high season.

I love this store! The staff are experts in outdoor gear. They can help you with everything from hiking to skiing boots. They have a fantastic collection of mountain clothing. The Alpineer also rents skis. If you are an intermediate to expert skier, rent with Alpineer. If you think you will need support during your rental / vacation, I recommend renting at the base of the mountain.

While it's better for your wallet to buy groceries in Gunnison, if you are a in a pinch, Clark's Market is there for you. This is the only "general" grocery store in Crested Butte.

City Market is the largest general grocery store in the Valley. You can also get your gas, liquor and beer, and other goods next to / near City Market.

Getting Around
The 4-way Stop is the central bus stop in Crested Butte. The bus will take you up to Mt. Crested Butte every 15 minutes in the winter ski season. If you want to walk the town (Elk Road), jump off the bus at the 4-Way Stop, then walk Elk Rd east to west. The 4-Way Stop also has restrooms and a tourist information center.

Pop into the Nordic Center for trail rentals, ice skating, and more. They help you with picking your hiking and/or snow shoeing trails, plus cross country skiing trails -- and they sell gear for those little items you may have forgotten. They also sell trail passes.

Christy Sports is a reputable rental and retail shop throughout Colorado's mountain resorts (and in Denver). If you rent in Denver, you will have support in Crested Butte! Christy's rents gear year round. They have higher end sporting equipment and clothing. Staff is typically knowledgable and friendly!

Nordic Center team is AMAZING! They rent outdoor gear year round - skis, cross country skis, snow shoes, and more. They have a small retail shop for those last minute purchases. The Center includes the skating rink in the winter and courts in the summer. Nordic Center collaborates with the Crested Butte Land Trust, which means they maintain the trails on the Land Trust and sell the day passes that you need if you use those trails.
Nordic Center also offers Yurt Dinners during the winter season - this is a real treat! You snow shoe or cross country ski 1 mile from the trailhead to the yurt. The small staff preps a 4-5 course dinner with drinks included. Often there is live, local music too!
