Ronda is a beautiful, historic Andalusian city. It is a perfect destination to spend an afternoon walking through the narrow streets of its ancient historic city centre with a centuries old bridge (Puente Nuevo) over a 100 m deep gorge that divides the old and the newer parts of the city and with the oldest bull fighting arena in Spain. Ronda is located in midst of the scenic Serranía of Ronda dotted by the picturesque, white Andalusian villages such as Alpandeire, Benalauría, Gaucín, Grazalema, and Zahara, all charming villages for short, half day excursions. We recently discovered the charming village of Benamahoma from where you can hike on a beautiful trail towards El Bosque (about 4 km each way) along the Río Majaceite, a cristal clear creek with plenty of shade from the bordering vegetation. You may combine this hike with a bite to eat at La Tasquita de Majaceite (phone: +34 956 727-018). Another short and worth while excursion is to the ancient ruins of Acinipo with extraordinary views of the surrounding area and a remarkable open theatre. Acinipo saw its cultural zenith during Roman times (1st century AD) although it predates the Romans, going back to Phoenician settlings several hundreds of years prior. On your return you must stop at Setenil de las Bodegas. Setenil is one of the most attractive Andalusian villages of the entire area and it's also the closest to El Cobijo.

This is a great place to eat and relax on the restaurant's magnificent terrace. El Muelle's food is outstanding and the owner (Frank) most welcoming and friendly. It's the perfect spot for dinner.

Los Cazadores is our favorite local restaurant in Ronda. Food and service are very good and you will see mostly locals. The menu is usually just verbal and they specialize on fresh seafood, next door parking garage, highly recommended

Almocábar is excellent both for tapas or as restaurant. If you choose the restaurant, be sure to reserve a table especially on busy weekends. Their service is friendly and they speak some English too.

El Morabito is worth a stop just to take in the views while having a drink or a light meal. Formerly a private home of a local, wealthy family in the early 20th century, the venue stands out for its fenomenal location and fenomenal views.
