A lovely ‘pizzeria’ on the square (which serves much more than pizza) In the summer outside seating on the tree-shaded square of Villedieu, reservation recommended for summer evenings.

Mondays the local market is held in Tulette. It's a very small market, perfect for a bike ride in (30 min). Pick up the essentials, have a coffee and then back home for lunch. We often grab a roasted chicken for an easy meal at the house (though be careful, the smell right make you want to park on the side of the road and dig in.) A reminder that the markets all wind down around 12 or 1, so be sure to get there in time.

Sightseeing

Tuesdays the market is held in Vaison. This is our favorite market. It's a large turnout, many vendors, great for picking up fabrics, keepsakes, provencal linens, and other things, as well as food. A reminder that the markets all wind down around 12 or 1, so be sure to get there in time. Vaison is an all-around must see. The Roman ruins are particularly known (and for a reason.) If you cross the river and walk up through the old castle, the views from the top (and along the small, windy roads) are unbeatable.

The drive over the Dentelles crosses the winery of Beaumes de Venise at the tiny town of Suzette on a high crest with fantastic views and colors. Continue down to the village of Beaumes de Venise for a shop that features all things involving olives, herb shops, and a café (Lou Castelet) at the intersection featuring little aperitifs of Beaumes de Venise muscat in an open-air setting (above the main parking lot).

Fresh foods are best found at the market, but the grocery stores are filled with great options. This is the closest to the house, and if you don't need much, a great bike ride.
