We have been going to this restaurant for years. Situated on the harbour in San Jose it serves standard Spanish fare at a good price. We have always enjoyed very good paellas and see food here and the very friendly owners provide brilliant service.

Cactus Nijar is not an ordinary garden centre. Yes you can buy cacti here but the owners of this place are creating a landscaped work of art (and love) complete with an amphitheatre of olive trees, and beautiful stone sculptures inspired by nature.

Monsul is one of the beaches accessed via San Jose. It is set in stunning volcanic scenery and has provided the backdrop for many films (including Indiana Jones). Take a cool box and spend the whole day sunbathing, body boarding, dune surfing and rock pooling.

This is a beautiful beach with a stunning backdrop located between Agua Amarga and Carboneras. There is a 10 minute walk down hill (15mins on the way up) to the beach. At certain times of year the walk down is spotted with beautiful and varied flowers and fauna.

Rodalquilar is situated in the centre of the park and is home to the main tourist information and administration centre. Here they often show local artists work in temporary exhibitions. Very close to this building is the botanical gardens. Perfect for a stroll around on a quiet afternoon it showcases plants specific to the region and climate. Rodalquilar was also an old gold mining town and it is still possible to drive up to the old mines at the back of the town. A very interesting trip for those interested in the history of the area.

There are cancan shows, a Western style shoot out show, and plenty of recreated 'Western' style establishments to walk around. There is also a zoo attached to the site and the price of the ticket includes all the attractions. Perfect for a day when the sun is hiding behind a cloud or if you want a break from the beach.
