Beer place and restaurant. Not mind-blowing food by any means, but a big terrace next to the Jules Verne carousel on the quais de Rhone.

The only Viet restaurant in Lyon worth visiting...and I am Vietnamese :) Run by a Vietnamese couple. No sushi, no Chinese food, no Thai food on the menu. Only Viet food. Frequented by many Vietnamese (can't say the same of the other restaurants in the neighborhood!).

I LOLed when I saw this place. It took its name from KFC, but AFC is 'African Food Concept.' African food is not well known at least to me coming from the US. Here you have a choice of several dishes such as Maffe (sorry I don't know how to spell the names), some chicken in a peanut sauce I believe, fish, beef, some typical red rice that is SO GOOD. Saffron rice, stewed vegetables. Menu at lunch is 10 euro, evening is 15. You get A LOT of food. Apparently they are representing food from Senegal and Cameroon, at least when I was there. It was delicious! Not a hip place at all, kind of ugly decoration I must admit, but what matters is on the plate. Don't freak when they nuke your food LOL

Friendly working-class dive bar owned by an extremely friendly Cambodian couple. Monsieur Mai will shake your hand when you enter his bar. Be warned this is a REAL dive that no hipster with phony street cred ambitions could ever dream of hanging out in. Hang out with some old-timers having their first drink at 10 am. Also, he makes a rendition of Vietnamese coffee with espresso + sweetened condensed milk.

Relaxing plaza on the quai of the Rhone. Try playing petanque à la Lyonnaise with the folks there. A nice terrace nearby at Le Mondrian restaurant!

20 minutes walking along the lovely quais de Rhone, passing all the nice peniches (bar/restaurants on boats!) if you decide to stop for a drink or to eat.

Hehe a little sketchy sometimes, but it is open later and even on Sunday til 13h. Quite big though there is usually quite a long line. If I have time I do prefer to go to The big Casino near Metro Garibaldi (2 stops on line D) for the better selection and let's just be honest, nicer atmosphere LOL.
