Parks & Nature
The Kornat Islands are the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean. Nowhere else in this large sea is such a great number of islands crammed (around 150) in so little space. The area of the sea in which they are located is about 320 square kilometres. On the island "Levrnaka" is a sandy beach "Lojena" one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia. Catering facilities in the park offer basic services to the visitors. The visitors are allowed to go anywhere in the park except in the area around Purara island and the cliffs Mala Purara and Violić which were declared areas of special protection. There are eight cleared up and marked hiking trails in the area of the National Park Kornati.

The area of the sea in which they are located is about 320 square kilometres. On the island "Levrnaka" is a sandy beach "Lojena" one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia. Catering facilities in the park offer basic services to the visitors. The visitors are allowed to go anywhere in the park except in the area around Purara island and the cliffs Mala Purara and Violić which were declared areas of special protection. There are also several archeological remains of unpreserved fortresses in the park's vicinity dating back to as far as the Roman times. Skradinski buk is one of the most attractive parts of the park. It is a massive, clear, natural pool with high waterfalls at one end and cascades at the other. Roški Slap is the second most popular attraction of the Krka National Park in terms of numbers of visitors. These cascades can be visited throughout the year. The most attractive way to reach Roški Slap is to take one of the excursion boats.

There are also several archeological remains of unpreserved fortresses in the park's vicinity dating back to as far as the Roman times. Skradinski buk is one of the most attractive parts of the park. The Greeting to the Sun consists of three hundred multi-layered glass plates placed on the same level with the stone-paved waterfront in the shape of a 22-meter diameter circle. Under the glass conduction plates there are photo-voltage solar modules through which symbolic communication with nature is made, with the aim to communicate with light. Simultaneously with the „most beautiful sunset in the world" the lighting elements installed in a circle turn on, and produce a marvelous, exceptionally impressive show of light in the rhythm of the waves and the sounds of the Sea organs.

Betina has an outstanding reputation and is specifically known for its long tradition in wooden shipbuilding and is famous for its excellent shipbuilders. Betina nowadays is one of few remaining centres of small wooden shipbuilding on the Croatian Adriatic. There are many types of ships being built in Betina, from small boat kaić (4 m long) to big cargo ships (27 m long). The Museum and knowledge kept inside its walls have an irreplaceable role in the history of Croatian maritime and shipbuilding heritage, which makes it a significant part of the European culture. Betina is 13 km from Pirovac.

The ingenuity of his mind is evident in the images of projects that only could have been carried out a century later following new physical and technical discoveries. Memorial center Faust Vrančić in Prvić Luka is the place where visitors can learn about life and work of this genious and see the collection of his inventions and written works.

Makirina trail is well-maintained gravel trail to a viewpoint offering view of the Bay of Pirovac, Vrana Lake and surrounding places. Best coastal view to Pirovac, 113 meters high. It is almost natural lungomare at the uninhabited side of the Pirovac Bay. It starts under the main road to Šibenik but you can reach it by walking south through Starine beach. At the beginning of the trail there is little Chapel of Our Lady. The trail ends with archeological site Ivinj. Locals believe that Makirina sea mud is very healthy, they use it in the summer to lubricate the skin and dry it in the sun to ease pain and other medical conditions.
