Wood fired Italian pizza, right out of an oven from Naples, made by the real deal. Food is great (I'm all in on the Diavola) and always hits the spot. They have a sandwich shop just a few doors down as well!

DC has never been a hot bed of Mexican fare. Home to more El Salvadorians, you've got to watch for the sneaky Pupusa restaurant hiding behind a taqueria name. Habanero bridges the gap with great homemade tortillas and really great enchiladas. Their restaurant slogan says it all, "99% Mexican."

Angelico's is a small chain in the DMV, but this location in Mount Pleasant might be the best of the bunch. If you want good, american style pizza for the late night fix, you can look them up on "Slicelife.com"

Union Market maintains a stranglehold on the local-newbie-concept-food-incubator scene here in DC. It's got the food hall vibe, but feels decidedly more upscale. When you're feeling unsure, they've got something to try for everyone, and it's all local.

Toki is my favorite Ramen shop in the city. Everything just goes together perfectly. Others will argue that Daikaya in Chinatown is the champ. Maybe they are right, but neither spot will be wrong. Both can be tough to get into, but Toki is especially small, so be ready for a wait. In excellent fashion however, The Pug downstairs will happily sell you a beer, and now sells Toki's appetizers from upstairs to tide you over!

Philly style sandwiches. All day. And they are great. Chicken cutlets are the standard though, so start there. They have multiple locations throughout the DMV and late night hours, so one is almost always "nearby." And don't sleep on the risotto balls!

Drinks & Nightlife
9:30 Club is still the hands down premiere music venue in the city. Anthem is great, but you'll never get closer to a favorite band then in the confines of DC's music mecca. This place isn't voted best music venue in the country year after year for nothing. It's just a quick cut across Howard from the house too!

BOGO (buy one get one) happy hour everyday of the week makes this a favorite locals' spot. The back outdoor patio is narrowed by a long bar and two giant tvs which gives this place its real energy.

U Hall is a fantastic underground (literally) music venue in the image of the original 9:30 club with one key difference. This place was built by DJs for DJs and boosts arguable the best sound system in the city. U Hall is run by the same group as 9:30 and Anthem, so they do things right. You can catch a late night dance fest or some of musics real up and comers in a small venue right before they make it big.

They are considered the granddad of them all in this town, and no beer tour would be complete without visiting their tap room. Secret Tip: Make the hike out there to start off a Friday night as they sell pint's for 50% off. That's $2.50 a beer. Get you some of that.

This Basilica is the largest Roman Catholic Church in North America and is one of the ten largest in the world. A short walk from the house, it's certainly worth the photo op.

DCA, aka the greatest travel airport in the county. Seriously, I once made it from my car to on the airplane in under 7 minutes. It truly is great to have a good servicing airport so close to downtown.
