The heart of DC--the mall is surrounded by history, art, and science museums and monuments. It's a great walk from the Capitol to the Washington monument and back (~2.5 miles). Or go further to the Lincoln memorial. My favorite memorial is the FDR memorial, We can tell you all about the options!
