Our favorite for breakfast or lunch. Great coffee and food. Craft beer and music in the evenings. Hidden down a little side street (22 New St), its well worth hunting out - look for the iron gate and flax bushes out front. Inside is a sun drenched courtyard surrounded by lush native garden. Migas tortilla is to die for!

This old converted church now hosts the best selection of craft beers on tap this side of the Mussel Inn - possibly the world! Popular with mountain bikers rehydrating after a hard day doing laps over the Coppermine trail. It's a real 'freehouse' so order in takeaways from fabulous Indian right across the road, Staffano's Pizza above the theatre on Trafalga St, or BYO. Plenty of outdoor tables with live music later on (mind the sandflies tho...)

Easy parking on Vanguard St or Wakatu square. Don't miss: "vege delux" galettes from the yellow and green caravan - tell them Tony and Viv sent you :)

Sightseeing
Stunning views of Nelson township and out to the Kahurangi mountains. 20 min moderate walk. Tracks lead on along the range if you're feeling enthusiastic.

The best view in Nelson - bar NONE!!!!!!! You'll have to earn it though :) Aim for Marsden Valley reserve and head almost to the end of the road. Its a 1-2 hr steady climb up through pine forest tracks till you reach the ridge line and the large open grassy area that is the local paragliding launch. Stunning 360 views of Richmond ranges behind Nelson, Tasman bay and mountains to the west and good views to the north and south. Take good shoes, water, camera and binoculars. The turnoff's aren't hard to follow but a map is recommended. If you're a keen mountain biker, head on to the grade 4 Involution track - its well worth the extra climb.
