Cairns and Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province China officially became Sister Cities in August 2004. Both cities have many similar features including a tropical climate, seaside location, tourism and agriculture with a substantial sugar industry.

Take a wander around the Garden and the neighbouring Freshwater Lake and Saltwater Lakes and enjoy the tranquility of this location. An eclectic variety of birds can be seen here including Magpie geese and Rajah shelduck. A short stroll from the Cairns Botanic Gardens and Cafe.
