Counterbalance has an indoor and outdoor seating area. The last time I visited, they didn’t have any heaters for the outdoor area and it was a chilly weekend. They’re known for their IPAs and stouts, but they have a nice selection of belgian-style beers. My favorite is their Miming Poetry Saison. Good saisons are tough to find in Washington. You can bring in food from the outside.

Good beers in a casual setting. A bit off the beaten path though.

I really liked the karma here and was very relaxing environment; maybe it was the music as it's just in my demographic of Cars, Black Sabbath, etc.. I had a taster of all the IPA's and a few others and I really liked the Rye Pale, their IPA and the double IPA they had on tap. This is yet another discovered, but not overly exposed brewery where you can still have a great beer, great atmosphere and meet new good friends without the chaos of other breweries when they are in the same caliber of quality beers. I recommend you come try this place out as you'll feel right at home and may share the same karma I felt.
