Visiting Antoine Bourdelle’s former studio is like a trip to the late 19th century, when artists like he and his master, Auguste Rodin, were creating their masterpieces. Bourdelle’s monumental sculptures on display here and the recent extension designed by Christian de Portzampac create a reflective, atmosphere that make the museum well worth a visit. The museum’s permanent collection is always free. There are entry fees to the temporary exhibits, but since the museum is associated with the city of Rome, visiting Romans are granted free admission to those as well!

“I often visit the Jardin du Luxembourg to reflect and create. Frequently, I also find myself visiting the nearby former studio of Russian-born artist Ossip Zadkine, whose work is a dialogue between wood, stone, cement, and earth. Visitors are able to do something peculiar at this museum: touch the artwork! Ossip Zadkine wanted the visually impaired to experience the beauty of sculpture.”
