It may not be in the city centre but just a short drive or bus journey you can visit the Yorkshire Air Museum. Based on the WWII bomber command station, look at all the aircrafts and memorial gardens. Whether you’re young or old this is a great day out for all the family. A great museum which takes you back to the time of the second world war. There was a French squadron flying out of Elvington.
