Arap Cami, built in the 8th century as a mosque by Umayyads, then it became a Roman Catholic church from 1325, then a mosque again under Ottoman rule in the 15th century. A remarkable place with an incredible history.

This is the oldest mosque in Istanbul, almost 1300 years old, with a different style. If you are interested in history, you may want to visit it. If you go by taxi, say "Perşembe Pazari/Karaköy".

“This restaurant is very different. It was a historic prison, it has now been charmingly renovated by the architect owners who serve you and if you're lucky, serenade you with cabaret-style tunes from the piano and maybe some singing. It's Georgian cuisine, the food is good but not amazing, the desserts are very good. It's the atmosphere and uniqueness that the place and the old couple brings it to come here for. The place is a little hard to find at night and you have to ring the doorbell to get in - a little adventure. (0212) 245 18 61”

“Sahne Sokak is the scene of the Beyoglu Balik Pazar (Fish Market). If you like fresh fish and street food, this is the place to go. Try the Mediye (muscles stuffed with rice). Do check out Avrupa Passage for souvenirs. This little shopping arcade has some interesting things on offer. If you explore this street in the late afternoon you can finish up with drinks and meze on Nevizade Sokak.”
