The area is also renowned for its abundance of walking and cycling trails - the perfect way to unwind and to immerse oneself in this most scenic of Scottish regions. Loch Lomond, one of the great lochs of Scotland, is only 7 miles away at Balmaha. A variety of boat trips across and around this majestic stretch of water are available and it is also possible to hire a boat/kayak or buy a fishing permit for the day. The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park offers plenty of hill walking, ranging from a brisk ramble to more serious Munro "bagging". Golfers are also well catered for as there are numerous golf courses in the area. Balloch (just 9 miles from the property) is the home to the National Park Gateway Centre and the Loch Lomaond Shores and a Sea- life centre. Stirlingshire has a number of historic sites - Stirling Castle for example - and all within easy reach. By way of change of scene, it is possible to catch a train from Milngavie to the great city of Glasgow and its wonderful choice of amenities; its retail facilities are second to none and its cultural facilities enjoy an international reputation.
