The Hide is a super get-away for anyone travelling around Scotland on the NC500 or on your own adventure looking for a unique stay. Almost off-grid, it has a comfy bed, central woodburner and spectacular view. It's the perfect stepping stone towards the full off-grid experience, intended for people who are curious about living the off-grid lifestyle but also like to be able to charge their phone, boil a kettle and have a hot shower! Mid Nov - Mar we have a winter mode as the water can freeze.

A cosy mid-terraced fishermans cottage, now with a wood burner, located only 1 minute walking distance to the gorgeous Shandwick beach. Ideal for a peaceful seaside holiday retreat. Shandwick is one of three small coastal communities that along with Balintore and Hilton that make up the seaboard villages. Logs: we provide a bag of logs for each stay per week.If you require extra logs, I can provide contact details of logs providers locally. Well behaved (not too large) dogs also welcome.

In Sutherland you can enjoy fantastic beaches, distilleries, castles, golf courses, and much more.

Situated beside the shores of the Cromarty Firth with spectacular views to the Black Isle our cottage sleeps six comfortably, and is ideally placed for touring, with access to superb beaches, forests, hill walking, golf, etc. The NC 500 route is minutes away. One of the best natural harbours in Europe, the Royal Navy had a base here until 1956. Now oil rigs line up in the Firth and liners visit every week in the summer season. Invergordon's spectacular murals are a must see!

Sanitizer and hand soap provided. Take your own bedding or very basic bedding provided. No phone signal/WiFi. The Nissen hut at HMS Owl was originally built in 1941 by the RAF. The Owl is our family home and took us 5 years to restore it. It has been featured on TV and in numerous design publications. HMS Owl is pretty special as is the restored Nissen available to rent. The Hut is cosy, warm and private with large living space and kitchen and large ensuite bedroom. We are a sand dune away from a safe beach and coastal walks where you may be lucky and see otters, seals and some of the Moray Firth dolphins.The village has a golf course with a hospitable clubhouse And a fascinating museum the TARBAT DISCOVERY CENTRE whose website is well worth a look at. The general store has a good choice of foodstuffs which you can cook in our well equipped kitchen.

Added later, the adjacent 200 year old cottage has been beautifully renovated and sits in a peaceful location within a 2 acre garden surrounded by open countryside. It’s perfectly situated as a base for exploring the highlands of Scotland, the fabulous beaches and places of interest around the Moray Firth, as well as being on the doorstep of the acclaimed Malt Whisky Trail. The Highland Capital of Inverness is only 20 minutes away.
