The Devil's Tramping Ground is located in a forest near the Harper's Crossroads area in Bear Creek, North Carolina. It has been the subject of persistent local legends and lore, which frequently allege that the Devil "tramps" and haunts a barren circle of ground in which nothing is supposed to grow.

Located in New Hill valley Railway is only a 20 minute drive from Small Café B and B. The railroad operates passenger excursion trains each month from April to December. Special trains are operated for Halloween on the evening of the last three Saturdays in October. They have many other themed train excursions throughout the year

This Little town is only about a 25 minute drive from Small and it is worth the drive. You hike or canoe along the Haw River. On Saturdays , for the farmer's market, there is live music. 2 great restaurants an English Pub, the Eddy, and 5 star gas station food. Yep! 5 Star. The General Store Café.
Of course they do not rival our Small Café, but they are worth noting :-). The Eddy chef is a personal friend of Chef RL of Small Café.
