Nor/ma Grand

Nor/ma is a wordplay on Nor(dic) and Ma(gyar), the local word for Hungarian, and the locale itself combines these two cultures. Co-founders Mariann and András, who define the place as naturally minimalistic, offer high quality baked goods, specialty coffee and a changing menu of carefully selected dishes made of seasonal, local ingredients. Sitting at the entrance of newly opened Széllkapu park, the peaceful vibe of the Nordic-style interior seamlessly melts into the hustle and bustle outside.

QUÍ Restaurant & Bar

Its name means “precious” in Vietnamese, and visiting QUÍ is indeed a feast for all of your senses. Co-owner Anh Tuan, who is also a fashion designer, took a major role in designing the artistically intricate interior. No wonder that entering QUÍ feels like walking into a sanctuary reminiscent of oriental pagodas. Come to taste their superb Vietnamese and Thai dishes, and stay for their tasty selection of drinks.

Sarki Fűszeres

Café, brunch place, wine bar, delicatesse or a richly packed pantry? It’s hard to put Sarki Fűszeres, which can be translated as Spice Cornerstore, in a box. One thing that the locals agree on is that it’s a neighbourhood cult favourite, where owner Judit and her team serve breakfast all day, and offer delicacies such as curated hams, cheeses and spreads like the typical Hungarian “kőrözött”.

Pántlika Bisztró

Located in the city’s biggest park, this retro style hut was converted into a bistro in 1963. Owner Viktor bought the place a couple of years ago, elevated the retro look and feel, but kept the decade old recipes. Today, Pántlika is a favorite of regulars and park visitors alike, who come here to refresh with a glass of “fröccs”, taste Hungarian delicacies such as bean soup or sweet cottage cheese balls, and listen to live music.

Repertory Concept Store

Repertory is a concept store and cozy oasis at once. Items such as scented candles, booklets, ceramics, house plants, as well as designer clothes and handmade minimalist jewelry have been carefully made or curated by the owners. If you stop by, Rebeka and Melinda will surely welcome you with a smile. Melinda's own clothing brand, DAIGE is also available in the store.

Bar Pharma

This intimate little cocktail bar can be found in the heart of Budapest’s Jewish district. Filled with vintage pharmacy jars, botanical drawings and dim lights, its best feature is the menu displayed as a periodic table and the high quality drinks and ingredients on it, carefully selected by owners Péter and Richárd. Their offer changes regularly, with one of their signatures being the “flódni” cocktail, inspired by the traditional Jewish pastry.
