Public transportation in Barcelona is very cheap compared to other cities like London or New York. You can buy, for example, a metro ticket called T10 for about 9.90€ giving you 10 single trips. And what's great about it is that you can simply share the ticket plus you can use it for the buses too except for the Blue Aerobus taking you to the airport. Of course, it depends on how many days you are staying etc.
