In the summer this can be a very windy place. It is a popular lake for kite surfing and windsurfing in the summer. It is worth the walk from the lake to the beach. It is loose sand. Or take a walk from the lake along a river to the mouth Floras Creek. If you are in this area, also also recommend you visit the visitor center at Storm Ranch at New River managed by the BLM, Langlois Market for yummy food (famous hot dogs), Dragonfly Nursery, or Cape Blanco Lighthouse.
