Tippek a helyiektől
You can go up and take a tour of the lighthouse during the summer season. Often you can see whales and other wild life. Plus, it is an interesting look into how the Oregon coast functioned 100 years ago.
The lighthouse, spectacular views, access to beach and historic Hughes House are a must!

“Nice winding hike that leads past a natural arch on the way to a sandy beach with lots of drift wood and sea stacks. ”

“Our favorite, funky, friendly place for dinner. On Highway 101 at Jackson Street in Port Orford. Not just a "fish and chips" place. Very casual. Serves large portions of very good food at very reasonable prices. Excellent home-made desserts, pies. Order the fried onion rings (ask for "extra crispy" if you like them that way) as an appetizer. Beer and wine are inexpensive too. ”

“This is a hoot! Even though I'm a local, I enjoy this immensely. Don't want to say too much for fear of ruining the surprise!”

“A bit more higher-end than The Crazy Norwegians and TJ's. Very good food and a very nice wine list. Good view of Battle Rock and the ocean. Located at the Battle Rock view area, on the south end of Port Orford. ”

“Pistol River State Park is set in the dunes of the southern Oregon coast. The river supposedly got its name when a militia soldier lost his pistol in the river during the infamous Rogue River Indian War. In March of 1856, a decisive battle was fought here. The dunes and the river system that feeds them are what make this area unique. During the spring and summer months, the dunes actually grow. The river has changed its course numerous times in recent history and pothole ponds attract waterfowl and shorebirds making this is an excellent birding locale. Ocean windsurfing is so good here it has become the location for several national championship. Great place to take the dogs. ”
