The Biblioteca Palafoxiana is a library in Puebla City's historic centre, in the Mexican state of Puebla. Founded in 1646, it is recognized by the UNESCO for being the first and oldest public library in the Americas, It has more than 45,000 books and manuscripts, ranging from the 15th to the 20th century. In 2005, it was listed on UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.

Uno de los tesoros más importantes de Puebla Capital es la Biblioteca Palafoxiana. Su historia comienza el 5 de septiembre de 1646, cuando, el entonces obispo, Juan de Palafox y Mendoza, donó su biblioteca particular de 5 mil volúmenes a los colegios de San Pedro y San Juan, con la condición de que se le permitierá el acceso a cualquier persona que supiera leer, y no sólo a los miembros de la iglesia y seminaristas, es por esto que a la Biblioteca Palafoxiana es considerada como la primera biblioteca pública del continente americano
