The Red Hook Ferry Terminal can be seen from your patio. It is directly below you, and takes about 10 minutes to walk there. Ferries to Cruz Bay in St John run hourly, starting at 6 AM. The trip to St John takes about 15 minutes. The last returning ferry is at 10 PM (please double check as schedules can change). St John has world class beaches and fabulous hiking trails. Definitely worth a day trip! If you have a rental car, there is also a car ferry (I'm not familiar with the car ferry schedule, but you will see them from the patio. They run regularly throughout the day).
