Maritime museum in a beautiful building. Worth seeing even if not entering the museum. Lovely brunch in the weekends, 22e per person or lunch during weekdays 10,90e. On Wed 5pm-8pm free admission for all for the museum. It is also possible to walk up the building and have nice views.

Only the building is worth seeing but recommend to drop in and visit Finnish Maritime Museum, museum shop, restaurant...

Merikeskus Vellamo on nähtävyys, jonka museot kertovat meren ja seudun tarinoita. Yhdellä pääsylipulla pääset tutustumaan Suomen merimuseon, Kymenlaakson museon ja Merivartiomuseon näyttelyihin. Voit kokea historiaa monin tavoin: kuuntele, katsele, haistele, tunnustele, leiki ja pelaa. Nähtävää ja tehtävää on kaikenikäisille vaikka koko päiväksi. Buukkaa opas, jos kaipaat luotsausta. Tietokeskus Vellamo on kaikille avoin tutkimus- ja oppimiskeskus, joka tarjoaa kirjasto- ja arkistopalveluita. Ravintola Laakonki ja museokauppa Plootu houkutuksineen kruunaavat elämyksen. Vellamossa on tarjolla merelliset vuokrattavat kokoustilat ja juhlatilat, kuten majesteettinen venehalli, 200-paikkainen auditorio sekä pienempiä kokoustiloja. Liuskaa pitkin voi kävellä ylös ja sieltä hienot näkymät.
