This was an amazing tour. Julia was a knowledgeable host who answered all the questions, made learning fun, and took us all around the city to learn. She allowed an exchange of culture and commentary, and was very passionate about the history of her people. We learned so much in the time about politics, culture, connections, and heroes that have been forgotten.
Everyone on the tour had a story in the connection to Afro Argentinians. As a black American, there were many connections between our culture and the enslaved Africans that fought for the independence and laid the foundation for Argentina.
I took lots of photos and spent the next two days sharing the history with my own family. I can’t wait to see how she continues to expand her tour and I loved the sit down and chill moments in between where we got to support local shops and restaurants.
