We had a mixed experience at this airbnb. We loved the rainforest location and the sound of the coqui frogs at night. And, Summer was a very friendly and responsive host.
But my kids didn’t love the bunk bed mattress that were actually just stacked thin cushions.
… and we had a most bizarre and unpleasant travel experience here. Summer warned us on our first night that it was termite season and that we should avoid using the lights to avoid attracting termites; she had provided red lights for us to use at night instead. Sure enough, our last night, when we had to pack up to leave the next morning, she messaged to warn us that the termites were out and we should only use the red lights. When I responded to say that I had turned on the red light in the living room and ask where I could find red lights in the other rooms, she said that there was only one. We had to get three kids showered and in bed, while repacking all our bags, and cleaning up the house, all with one red light.

The rainforest bungalow is truly a gem. As long as you are prepared for the Coqui frogs, you will enjoy staying here. (We anticipated that we would lose some sleep to the noise, but our crew - two adults, an 11 yr old and a 9 yr old - slept soundly!) We brought ear buds, but the sound to us felt like a white noise track, just turned up a bit!

The hosts were some of the best we've experienced in our 14 years of using Airbnb. Lots of helpful recommendations for the area in guidebooks in the bungalow (and also on the Airbnb listing). Responsive to our questions. And so warm and friendly!

Lots of great amenities - ear buds, boogie boards/snorkel gear, board games, card games. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking a few simple dinners and daily breakfast.

Hard to beat the location. Easy access to Hilo, it's beaches, the airport, Mauna Loa factory (8min), the Sunday Market south of town (15 min), Volcanoes National Park (35 min), and Mauna Kea (40 min).

Highly recommended!
