I have been renting this place semi-regularly for ten years, and hope to come again next year. It is not fancy, or spacious, or upscale, but IS my happy place. I love the isolation, being surrounded by nature on all sides, enjoying the hiking and culture available in and around Gainesville, the amazing sunsets and star-filled sky, the quiet. Mark’s place is just across a privacy fence, but we never see or hear each other except by prior arrangement. He is immediately attentive to all requests. The nearest supermarket is 15-20 miles away, but the closest village, McIntosh, has a post office, a dollar store and friendly people. The wifi, cell service and plumbing work just fine. Micanopy, 5 miles north, is a cute little town with cafes, dedicated to antiques and history. This is your best possible place to ‘get away from it all.’

The third long term stay at what I call my "tropical oasis" was just as amazing as my previous two stays. Stunning hill top views with deer, cows, horses and egrets... giant live oaks with Spanish moss dancing in the wind high in the tree tops.. banana trees.. adorable little tree frogs and lizards plus the occasional armadillo scurrying through the yard at dusk while an owl screeches from above is what you will find here. Not to mention all the other nasty bugs that call Florida home but only in the summer! This beautiful quiet very rural area is why I keep coming back.
But the best part is Mark, the ever vigilant host with excellent communication always ready to address any concerns you may have. I learn so much about old FL from him and enjoy our friendly neighborly chats.
The small cottage inside reminds me of an RV. But the giant screened in porch is where you want to spend most of your time.
Bonus is the huge backyard that makes my big dog so happy.

This was my 7th stay at Mark’s cabin since 2015. It is my happy place. Not upscale, but he is always making improvements and making sure it is comfy and well equipped. Thank you again, Mark!

This was my second long term stay at Mark's dreamy country cottage. I call this perfect meditative space my "jungle oasis". The beautiful views of this rural setting are stunning! Miles from the hustle and bustle of city life it truly is a space that time forgot.
Mark is incredibly kind always available next door making sure our needs were met. He's not just a host but has become a friend to my small family consisting me and my dog. I can't wait to return!
