Enjoyed the peaceful stay at John’s cabin. John contacted us to see if we needed anything and was a very good host.

We truly enjoyed our weekend at Fox Trot Cabin. The space was exactly what we were looking for … a cozy little cabin tucked away in the mountains that would provide us a peaceful weekend where we could feel like we were right at home. Drinking coffee on the deck in the early morning was exactly what we needed!

John had excellent, detailed communication ahead of our arrival so we knew exactly what to do and what to expect. The kitchen was stocked with all the things you might need. There were “staples” like spices, coffee, teas, sandwich baggies, aluminum foil, paper towels, etc provided (even frosty glasses in freezer to enjoy a cold beer!). The place was clean and the beds were very comfortable. XM radio is even provided which we utilized all weekend!

Just cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed this place. We are already trying to find dates for our next visit!

*Unsafe experience* I informed the host that I would be traveling with my children, including picking up my son and his roommate from Virginia Tech. He confirmed we could check in at 4 PM, but when we arrived at 10 PM there was a car parked at the cabin and the front door was open. We tried contacting the host and the emergency numbers posted on the property but got no response. Concerned there might be a medical emergency, we went to the police; they later informed us that the owner was inside and he refused to leave. I returned my son to campus and drove home overnight, pulling over to rest in short intervals. The host only responded when the review opened and I texted him that I would leave an honest review, he then accused me of threatening him. I provided video, documentation and the police report to Airbnb, who deemed the host at fault and escalated the case for further review. The experience put my family at risk and I cannot recommend this listing to any women travelers.
