Wow! Our experience with Ted was absolutely incredible, and we recommend this adventure to anyone who wants to get the real local Hopkins experience. Ted is a true Garifuna native and him and his crew are extremely eager to share their culture with you. The tour started with a beautiful boat ride out to a private island where you will share a beer, swim around a beautiful reef, and get a taste of paradise. From here, we rode out and did some Barracuda fishing as we made our way over to the corral reef where we snorkeled in the beautiful, crystal clear water. From here, we chummed the water a bit more for Barracuda, where we caught a big Jackfish that would become our food later in the day! We then landed on a private island where Ted had a private chef prepare homemade cocktails and a fish lunch that was absolutely to die for. The food in Hopkins is absolutely delicious, and Ted's private chef did not disappoint. Then came the drum circle and dancing, which turned out to be one of the most enjoyable experiences we'd ever had. A storm came in while we were out (Hurricane Lisa), so we had to end our adventure a few hours early and head back in toward the mainland. This ended in one of the most exhilarating boat rides we had ever been on as we made our way back to the shore. Our stay in Belize ended early due to the storm, but Ted's experience made the entire trip worth it. We can't wait to visit again and spend more time on the island with him. Pro traveler tip: If there are at least 4 people in your group, spend the extra and make it a private experience. You will have so much fun and it is absolutely worth it! Ted and his team cater to your group in a way that makes you never want to go back to your everyday life. Highly recommended experience!
