With my husband Paul, we run a farm in the Moutere Valley near Tasman, New Zealand, managing a herd of re-homed Alpacas and theee awesome Beagles - Henry, Sam and Penny. Sustainability is really important to us, and our guest are invited to book a tour of the farm, hand feed the alpacas and learn all that we are doing in this beautiful corner of New Zealand. Five Gates Farm is a 15 minute drive from our accommodation - The Old Chapel at Riwaka.

The chapel accommodation was so unique and lovely! And both hosts extended such warmth and welcome to us, with helpful suggestions and extra support. We especially enjoyed the warm light and beauty of the kitchen, living room, and backyard areas. The hosts will be working with the new neighbors to come to an understanding about the need for a peaceful space in the evenings. We also especially enjoyed the accessibility to a variety of activities around Abel Tasman NP.

The Old Chapel is located directly on SHwy 60 and can be reached quickly from Nelson or Nelson Lakes NP, where we came from. It is only a few minutes drive to Motueka for shopping or to Kaiteriteri for hiking, swimming etc in Abel Tasman NP. We had an easy self check-in and Julie gave us a wonderful welcome with fresh colorful dahlias. The chapel is very spacious, stylish and well thought out and comfortably furnished, with perfect kitchen facilities and a modern bathroom with a lion's foot bath which we would have loved to try out. The dining table with a view of the well-tended garden and the mountains, with glass almost all around, was our highlight. We watched birds here and recovered from the long hike. Thanks to Julie's generous hospitality, we were able to sleep despite the neighbors having loud parties both nights. (It seemed to us that they were also vacationers.) We have rarely found such a lovingly designed Airbnb as Julie's house and can definitely recommend it!
