Hong knows a lot about the history of the Tha Din Darng area. It is on the west side of the river so you take a ferry ride over to the other side and from there it’s a leisurely stroll through the area. This is a traditional Chinese Thai neighbourhood and it’s obvious that the families who are running the businesses live there. It’s a very relaxed and friendly scene, many traditional Thai foods are being cooked and prepared on the street. We tasted a wide variety of foods, I even had a go at making som tum at a lady’s stall which was delicious. It was a very enjoyable and relaxed way to try Thai food from the street vendors. Hong explained everything in excellent English. I highly recommend this tour.

DO THIS TOUR! Quite possibly the best and most immersive food tour I’ve experienced. We took the ferry to cross the river and a tuktuk to the final spot. We arrived ravenous and left absolutely stuffed. Born and raised in Bangkok, Hong graciously shared historic and culturally significant landmarks and markets we could never have found or navigated on our own. She was engaging and paced the tour well.
