2023. novemberMy husband and I did this because of my own interest in what life was like in former communist countries. I had recently been in Warsaw and did a life under communism tour there as was really curious about the difference in the two countries as the former Yugoslavia was under Tito and Tito was not under the control of Stalin. This was a great tour and provided insight into life under Tito's Communism. Dejan was an excellent tour guide and very welcoming of all my questions. We explored New Zagreb and the places he took us to are ones we would have found on our own. Very highly recommend taking this tour if you are in Zagreb.

2022. szeptemberDejan’s tour of Novi Zagreb was absolutely everything I’d hoped: exposure to Communist era architecture and history, as well as the opportunity to get a sense of everyday life in a district that tourists rarely visit. Dejan is an academic who lends both his research expertise and personal experience to contextualizing the sights. I was the only person on that afternoon’s tour, and Dejan took special care to drive us to locations less convenient to reach via public transit, and offered me recommendations over coffee for my stay in Zagreb as well as for traveling down the coast. I followed his suggestion for a local cafe in an outdoor market behind a bus stop, and the wine and goulash were outstanding. I’ve never taken an Airbnb promoted tour—and am really not much of a tour person in general—but I would absolutely recommend Dejan if you’re looking for insights into Croatian culture and history, and want to experience Zagreb “off the beaten path.”

2021. októberGreat for getting an understanding of Croatia’s Communist period. Dejan has in-depth knowledge of the city and his country’s history and is able to explain it and show you things so you can understand it, too. I also like how Dejan made a point to help me understand daily life during this period. I would recommend!
