This tour was very interesting! It honestly flew by, and Akua dropped many interesting facts that we had no idea about before. It was cool getting to learn about the Gullah GeeChee people and just some local Charleston history.

Akua herself is a great guide, and I really vibed with her personality. I would definitely recommend adding this to your list of things to do in Charleston!

Akua was so welcoming and eager to teach us about the land we were on and the Gullah Geechee people. I learned so much that I had not known about Charleston’s history or America’s history and loved hearing about Akua’s efforts to petition the local government for more monuments around the city for African Americans.

Akua was a delight and very knowledgeable about the Gullah geechee. Her presentation was very clear and heartfelt. The hour was perfect and she offered ways to continue experiencing the culture with the cuisine and sweet grass weaving

We had the best time with Akua, as she shared a wealth of knowledge on the SC plantation that had over 100 acres of land. Truly an amazing historian.
