We met in Tamarindo in 2012, Katie having been in Costa Rica since 2003, and Happy since 2010. In 2015 we bought and renovated Casa de Arroz. We have been building our property management company and hosting on Airbnb since then! In 2020 we decided to open the “HandleBar” located in down town Tamarindo. I had an absolutely amazing stay here! Happy and Katie are incredible hosts — super kind, welcoming, and genuinely great people. The room was spacious, spotless, and had everything you could need, including a full kitchen. The shower had the best water pressure I’ve had in years — seriously, it was amazing!

They also own a little bar down the street called Handlebar, which quickly became one of my favorite spots in Tamarindo. You even get a couple of free beer tickets when you stay, and their friends — a mix of locals, expats, and travelers — are always around, making it super easy to meet people and feel part of the community.

The bartender, Ari, was awesome — friendly, fun, and always made you feel right at home. Overall, it was a perfect experience. I can’t recommend this place enough — great vibes, great people, and a great location. I’ll definitely be back! 🍻🌴

Nossa experiência na Casa Arroz foi ótima! A casa está localizado bem próximo à tudo, tem um quintal bom e um espaço ótimo. Apesar da localização bem no centro de Tamarindo, a rua de acesso à casa é meio de difícil acesso. No nosso caso não tivemos problema, mas se você tiver algum tipo de problema de locomoção esse local não é ideal pra você.

Amei que Katie&Happy deixaram para nós de presente, as cadeiras, cooler e principalmente o guarda chuva disponíveis auxiliaram demais!

O apartamento era limpinho e super bom. Recomendo!

Beautiful hidden gem. Felt very secure. Very nice place, comfortable bed everything was cozy. I’m the morning when you come outside the location is sort of like nestled in a forest and you can hear the birds singing. A slight 1 minute walk down the street there’s an outdoor food court, across the street there’s gift shops, music and dancing. I really like the self check-in very smooth and allows you flexibility of your arrival. I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
