Házigazda
- Lakóhely: Denver, Colorado
I am a private investor who lives in Denver. My hobbies include climbing, welding bicycles and spending time in the wilderness. I am generally a quiet person, easy going person without any strict policies. I was, however, raised in a Kameron Fry household, meaning "look, don't touch" was the dominant policy. So, I have the utmost respect for other people's personal space and belongings.

Daniel stayed for two nights in this 2BR we rent. When he made the reservation, he told us there would be 4 adults one night and five adults the second night, but he never mentioned the three medium sized dogs he brought with him. When our cleaning person noticed he had three dogs (when he was leaving), she texted me. I then texted him on his personal phone to let him know that we knew he brought three dogs, but hadn't told us. We have a one dog limit, there are pet fees, and we ask to be informed, so I asked him "why would you do this?" Probably not the best thing to ask, since it implied a lack of honesty,.. and it made him mad and I received a very angry phone call in response. He said we hadn't been clear about the rules, that he made an honest mistake, accused me of being at fault, and he tried to explain several things I am still not clear about. He was upset and angry, I was having a hard time hearing and understanding him, he made no offer to pay the pet fees, and I politely ended the conversation. I went to our Airbnb message thread, copy and pasted the pet information we post on the listing, and accused him of being less than truthful. My bad. Daniel contacted Airbnb, made his case that I hadn't provided adequate posting for only including the pet information with our larger description, and Airbnb called me. They were sympathetic, but informed me they thought it best if Airbnb pay the extra fees (if we allowed three dogs for two nights at $10/night = $60). So Airbnb paid us. Then I received a personal text message on my phone from Daniel after that, in which he went to great lengths to ridicule and denigrate me and accuse me of all sorts of things,.. false accusations.
We have reviewed many many guests we have had stay at the nine units we rent on Airbnb (including our own). Until now, I have never given anyone a bad review. Everyone has been great, and we welcome them back. I cannot in conscience let this go. I feel responsible to the millions of Airbnb guests and hosts, to share my experience with Daniel, so I have. I clearly didn't handle this very well, so I apologize to Daniel for my bad handling. I will make sure to reiterate all the pet rules we have in the "house rule section" he told me about, and to list the pet fees in the "extra fee section" he also told me about (pet fee is our only extra fee). And I will always try to give every guest the benefit of the doubt a host should always assume before asking a guest why they didn't inform us they were bringing three dogs along.
