Nos encantó la casa de Ulrich y Regina. Es muy especial, original, sencilla y cómoda. Disfrutamos de la terraza y de la parte de arriba en las noches cálidas. Aunque hay que ser cuidadoso con la empinada escalera. Ulrich y Regina siempre atentos, flexibles y nos lo pusieron todo muy facil. Cacela Velha es una pequeña aldea preciosa, muy visitada en verano, pero siempre puedes caminar por sus playas hasta perderte en un lugar solitario. Muy recomendable.

The first photo of a house that appears on the listing turned out to be the neighbour’s house, so we were both disappointed that there was no sea view from a terrace, which was what we’d expected . It took an embarrassing half hour and a few phone calls to find the actual house and the person who was to let us in. We’re both able-bodied but the stairs are so steep and dangerous that we didn’t feel we could relax with a glass of wine on the roof terrace, sitting with a view of the neighbour’s wall, and finally decided to sleep in the downstairs bedroom with no windows, despite the heat, as the toilet was also downstairs. So it was all a lot more enclosed than we’d anticipated. The Wi-Fi is very poor, so we used our phones and the TV is tuned to German language channels, so we had to forget about that. Also, we didn’t realise that there would be a constant stream of tourists passing by the windows on the street outside, from early morning to late at night.

A beautiful, artistic home in the tiny hamlet of Cacela Velha.

The house is their home so is filled with real love. Once inside you are left to live, with no welcome pack that is normal for Air B & B's, you are given the responsibility to look after yourself!

The kitchen has everything, the roof terrace is a proper sun trap. Daily there are people taking photo's of the front of the house so keep your net curtains drawn.

There are no shops here but I loved my daily walk to either Manta Rota with its little market and well stocked supermarket or turn right on the beach and walk (tide permitting) up to Taveria which has a range of shops and fresh fish markets.

It's a total chilled escapists dream.
