This is well off the beaten path, but a great day trip if you have the time. The state park charges a $5 entrance, has a boat launch, swimming area, camping, hiking, play structures, archery, an outdoor amphitheater... it's our favorite family spot during the summer. Pretty quiet outside holiday weekends, too.

Gorgeous and fun to visit in early summer. They drop the water later in the summer but still great for boating.
